Lexis, the Greek word for speech, is the FM personal
communication system from Bernafon. Even with highly advanced and effective
hearing instruments, people with severe to profound hearing impairment still
encounter situations where it can be difficult to hear and understand speech.
Lexis uses the latest digital technology and offers you a choice of what
you want to hear and to whom you want to listen.
Lexis gives users the independence, mobility and freedom to participate
in situations in which it would otherwise be difficult or impossible for
them to communicate.
Lexis brings the speaker? voice closer to the ear
FM systems increase the signal-to-noise ratio by bringing the microphone
closer to the signal source. This has been proven to increase speech intelligibility
in challenging listening situations, such as:
In noisy areas such as restaurants, cars or trains
In lecture halls, cinemas, theaters etc (over distance)
In rooms with high reverberation (reflective surfaces) e.g. churches etc.
Lexis also couples easily to other sound sources, such as TV, stereo,
PC and other audio-visual equipment. It could also be used, e.g. to monitor
a child in a distant room.
The compact ear-level FM receiver is able to receive information from
any transmitter operating on the same frequency.
